June 2, 2005 - (Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter nominated Ruth Ulrich and Janet Haedicke, Ph.D. to represent Monroe at the Business and Professional Women’s Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. from May 16-17. “I was proud to nominate nominated Ruth Ulrich and Janet Haedicke as strong and prominent community leaders who take an active role in making a difference in our great state,” said Vitter. The leadership summit focused on policy proposals to create more jobs, ensure economic development, educate children, provide affordable health care and strengthen families. Participants at the summit explored ways to more effectively address the most pressing issues faced by our country. Ulrich is the radio producer and comedy writer for the “Moon Griffon Show.” She is a member of the Northeast Louisiana Ad Club. Ulrich was the chairman of the Louisiana Electoral College in 2004 and is a member of the Republican State Central Committee for District 16A. She is a commissioner for the City of Monroe on the Historic Preservation Commission. Ulrich is also the past vice president of the Garden District Neighborhood Alliance and as past president of the Monroe Garden Club. Haedicke is a professor of English at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Co-editor of the Tennessee Williams Literary Journal, she also serves as executive editor of the Business Times of the Rio Grand Valley. A graduate of Leadership Louisiana, Haedicke is the president of the Center for Children and Families, Inc. and vice president of the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council. In New Orleans, she serves on the executive committee of the Pirates Alley Faulkner Society and on the board of directors of the Southern Repertory Theatre. |
