July 28, 2008 - Untitled Document
(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today introduced a statement into the official congressional record in honor of the six crew members who were lost in the tragic crash of Air Force B-52 “Raider 21” on June 21 in the Pacific Ocean. “The B-52 has long served as the backbone of our nation’s strategic bomber force, protecting our nation throughout the world, and these six brave individuals served honorably as crew members charged with that valuable mission. “That the six members of this air crew died while participating in celebrations surround Guam Liberation Day cannot be overlooked. On a day when Guam marked the anniversary of their liberation by the U.S. military, these brave Americans stood as a testament to the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who had served before them. On June 21, they passed into history and became a part of that legacy. “We honor these six men who made the ultimate sacrifice in carrying out their duties. Their commitment to their country, their families and their fellow citizens will not be forgotten,” said Vitter. |
