Vitter Applauds Nomination for U.S. Attorney

May 13, 2005 -

(Washington, D.C.)U.S. Sen. David Vitter made the following statement about President Bush’s nomination of Jim Letten to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana:

“I am proud to be Jim Letten’s strongest advocate in Washington for a full Presidential appointment. And it’s for one simple reason. As acting U.S. Attorney, Jim Letten is the toughest, most effective prosecutor of public corruption that we’ve ever had in Louisiana.

“I am thrilled that President Bush has nominated him for a full appointment to the post of U.S. Attorney where he can continue to contribute to the fight against corruption and cronyism in Louisiana.

“I expect Jim will be approved by the U.S. Senate quickly. I look forward to working with him in that process and in our ongoing fight against corruption.”
