June 30, 2005 - (Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter made the following statement about President Bush’s nomination of Jim Letten to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, which passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee today: “This is a great step forward in the process to get Jim Letten a full appointment to the post of U.S. Attorney, where he can continue his major contributions to the fight against corruption and cronyism in Louisiana. “I am proud to be Jim’s strongest advocate in Washington for a full appointment. As acting U.S. Attorney, Jim is the toughest, most effective prosecutor of public corruption that we’ve ever had in Louisiana. “Now that the full Judiciary Committee has approved Jim Letten as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the nomination moves to the Senate floor for a vote. I look forward to his final confirmation and to working with him in the ongoing fight against corruption in Louisiana.” |
