Vitter Statement on Tornado Damage in New Orleans Metro Area

February 13, 2007 -

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today made the following statement about the tornado damage in the New Orleans metro area:

“It seems that we are faced with one challenge after another, and my heart goes out to all those who were directly impacted.  As the state prepares its disaster declarations, I pledge to help the state in any way to support a request for a federal disaster.  I am committed to helping the families affected by these terrible storms,” said Vitter.

Vitter met this afternoon with Col. Jeff Smith, the director of Louisiana's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and discussed ways that he could assist in the recovery efforts.
