July 21, 2005 - (Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator David Vitter announced that $250,000 in federal funding for the Lamar Dixon Exposition Center was included in the Senate Transportation, Treasury, the Judiciary, HUD, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, which passed out of the Appropriations Committee today. “I appreciate that my colleagues on the Appropriations Committee understand the importance of this facility to Ascension Parish,” said Vitter. “This federal funding will help the center succeed. It has the potential to become a real economic engine and improve the quality of life for area residents.” Vitter secured $250,000 for Ascension Parish to acquire and operate the multi-use events facility. The center will be used for business-related developments and as a resource for economic development. The Senate Transportation, Treasury, the Judiciary, HUD, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill is expected to move to the Senate floor for a vote later this year. |
