In addition, titles of periodicals found in the Library of Congress
Catalog and located in the general collections of the Library are
included. The bulk of the title selection and verification for the
new entries in this edition was done starting in the summer of 1988
and continuing through the fall of 1989. Very little weeding of
older titles from the 1969 list was done.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF ALL PERIODICALS IN THE
LIBRARY OF CONGRESS. If you do not find the periodical titles you
need in this list, check the Periodical Catalog and the Main Card
Catalog in the Jefferson Building, or the Periodical Catalog on
the 5th floor of the Adams Building. If the title is not found in
any of these catalogs, please consult a reference librarian for
further assistance.
MICROFORMS
Approximately 1000 titles in this list are available in microform.
These microform holdings are usually, but not always, in addition
to hard copy holdings available in the general collections. The
microform number and approximate years held are given in brackets.
The dates for holdings were recorded in the summer of 1989. Since
that time more issues of some periodical titles may have been received.
Ask a reference librarian for information on current holdings. Unless
otherwise noted, all microform periodicals are to be requested in
the Microform Reading Room.
REQUESTING PERIODICALS
Current Issues Until enough issues of a periodical title
are received to permit binding (usually 1 year-18 months), the current
unbound issues are kept in the stacks of the Newspaper and Current

Unbound periodicals from the general collection MUST be requested
and used in that room. Current issues of law and music periodicals
are available through the Law Library Reading Room (LAW, Room LM
201) and the Performing Arts Reading Room (PARR, Room LM 113), respectively,
both in the Madison Building.
