For Immediate Release:
Thursday, July 24, 2003

Senator Murray meets with students who have found guidance, structure and a positive future through the Job Corps. Khaloy, Sara and Roswell have all gotten an education and a vocational skill that will allow them to find a good paying job. They are all very involved in student government at their job corps center. They were selected to come to Washington because of their leader skills and their academic and vocational successes.

Senator Murray has been a long-time supporter of the program through her authorizing role on the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and on the Appropriations Committee, which provides the funding for the program to serve over 70,000 young people around the country. Washington State has four centers: Moses Lake, Curlew, White Swan and Sedro Woolley that serve over 1,000 students in our state.
