December 20, 2002 ROCKEFELLER COMMENTS ON THE LIKELIHOOD OF SENATOR BILL FRIST (R-TN) AS NEW MAJORITY LEADERWashington, DC – The following is Senator Jay Rockefeller’s (D-WV) response to reports this afternoon that Senator Bill Frist (R-TN) has secured support from more than enough members to win the election to replace Senator Trent Lott as the next Majority Leader in 2003. "Senator Bill Frist is a first-rate member of the United States Senate and he will be an excellent majority leader. "Our families are close and personal friends. "Together, we created the Forum on Technology and Innovation, a non-partisan group working to inform staff, media and the public on cutting-edge technology issues. "We also chair the Alliance for Health Reform and have joined together to organize more than 200 forums in Washington and around the nation on a variety of pressing health care issues. "I look forward to working with him in the best interests of West Virginia."
