For Immediate Release:
Tuesday, April 12, 2005

Senator Murray offers her amendment to the $80 billion supplemental funding bill for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Murray Amendment would have provided $2 billion in funding for a critical cost of war -- healthcare for America’s veterans, including those returning home from Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.

Unfortunately, the amendment was defeated for the second time (it was first defeated as an amendment to the Senate Budget Resolution earlier this year) by a vote of 54-46 with all but one Republican member of the Senate voting against the veterans’ funding.
