November 25, 2008 — DoverSenator Carper visited Eden Hill Medical Center, the first medical mall in the area and was designed for ease - as "one-stop shopping" for patients. The building contains a variety of services including house urgent care, laboratory, imaging, plastics, urology, podiatry, pulmonary, sleep lab, ophthalmology, primary care, OB/GYN, outpatient surgery, pain management, pharmacy facilities and a cafeteria.
November 25, 2008 — DoverSenator Carper visited with volunteers at the USO on Dover's Air Force Base. Volunteers at the USO serve the needs of United States armed forces personnel and their families stationed on, deploying from or transiting through Dover Air Force Base. They work in partnership with military and civilian communities and further the efforts of USO World Headquarters. USO Delaware was founded in March 1991. Sen. Carper is a Navy veteran who served three tours in Vietnam and retired with the rank of Captain in 1991.

November 24, 2008 — GeorgetownSenator Carper visited North Georgetown Elementary School, which has had a State of Delaware school accountability rating of "Superior" from 2004-2008.
November 21, 2008Senator Carper visited Wesley College to enjoy a Thanksgiving lunch with members of the Transition Partnership Project (TPP) of the John S. Charlton Program. He joined parents, students of the program and Wesley College students. TPP is the last step in a student's public school journey. Until the student reaches 21, the focus of this program is on the information, knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the adult world. John S. Charlton is a unique program that services students with significant physical/cognitive delays, deaf/blind, as well as students with autism. A number of students graduating from the program annually are either prepared to join an agency seeking competitive employment or working competitively at a job placement.

November 12, 2008 — WilmingtonSenator Carper presented the John E. Babiarz Award to Senator Andrew Know at the Port of Wilmington Maritime Society's 31st annual dinner. Senator Knox's wife Cas and son Mark accepted the award on his behalf.
November 11, 2008 — DoverSenator Carper, a retired naval flight officer who served 23 years in the Navy, including three tours in Vietnam, was honored to join author Nancy E. Lynch for the release of her book, "Vietnam Mailbag; Voices from the War, 1968 - 1972" on Veterans Day. Held at the Public Archives in Dover, they were joined by State Archivist Russ McCabe and about 50 Vietnam Veterans.
November 7, 2008 — WilmingtonSenator Carper held a press conference to highlight the many benefits of the Post 9/11 GI Bill at Wilmington University. As a Vietnam veteran who went to The Ohio State University on a Navy ROTC scholarship and went to the University of Delaware on the GI Bill for his MBA, the senator understands the importance of offering federal assistance to those men and women who proudly wear our country's uniform.
November 7, 2008 — FredericaSenator Carper visited with 2009 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Mark Teesdale of Lake Forest Central Elementary. A general music and chorus teacher for the 4th and 5th grade, Mr. Teesdale has been teaching for 25 years.
