harkin announces more than $330,000 for free clinics of iowa

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that the Free Clinics of Iowa will receive a grant of $331,692 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Harkin helped to secure these funds as the Chair of the subcommittee that funds health and education initiatives.

The Free Clinics of Iowa (FCI) provide basic health care services through volunteer physicians, nurses and other health professionals at no cost to patients. The FCI has 18 facilities across Iowa.

“This federal funding will help these vital clinics keep their doors open and continue to serve Iowans who need healthcare,” said Harkin. “Every Iowan deserves access to basic healthcare services and these clinics serve those who need it most.”
