The Iowa Civil Rights Commission is an administration agency that enforces the "Iowa CivilRights Act of 1965," Iowa's anti-discrimination law.  Any person aggrieved or wronged by adiscriminatory or unfair practice may file a complaint. The protected bases of discrimination inIowa law are age [only for employment and credit], sex, race, color, creed, national origin, religion, and disability. Also familial status, the presence of children in the household, is protected in the areas of credit and housing. Marital status is protected in the area of credit. To use the fact that someone opposed a discriminatory practice or that they filed a complaint as a reason to discriminate is discrimination on the basis of "retaliation".

HEATH Resource Center is part of George Washington University, Graduate School of Education and Human Development.  It is the national clearinghouse on postsecondary education for individuals with disabilities, and is supported in part by the U.S. Department of Education.  It is one of three clearinghouses authorized by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to provide specialized educational information to people with disabilities, their families,and the professionals with who with them.  One helpful resource it offers is a guide for "Financial Aid for Students with Disabilities, 2003 Edition."
