NDIIPP State Projects Shine at COSA Board Meeting
August 5, 2008 -- The Library of Congress and representatives from each of the four Preserving State Government Information projects addressed the Council of State Archivists (COSA) at their board meeting Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in Atlanta, GA. The COSA board meeting was held at the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA) annual conference.
Each project highlighted recent activities and achievements. Partners from the Arizona-led project, PeDALS, discussed their work on a metadata dictionary and developing relationships with state agencies. A Model Technological and Social Architecture for the Preservation of State Government Digital Information, the Minnesota Historical Society-led project, shared information about the interests and challenges of each of the project’s partners as well as their work on an XML schema for legislative information.
Representatives from GeoMapp, the project led by North Carolina, covered the challenges they overcame in creating a common understanding at the beginning of the project and highlighted the work enabled by this shared understanding. Washington State Archives and their partners discussed the activities of the Multi-state Preservation Consortium, including their records ingest process.
Each project also discussed outreach efforts and the documentation of their work available on the each of the project websites. COSA expressed continued interest in the ongoing work of the projects.
