New York Farm Day
In September 2006, I hosted my fifth annual New York State Farm Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC to celebrate our farmers. This annual event has served to highlight the abundance, diversity and quality of agricultural commodities produced in New York State, from Long Island, to the Hudson Valley, to the Finger Lakes, to the Adirondacks, to the Catskills, to Lake Erie. This event, which brings in farmers, winemakers, and restaurateurs from all regions of New York, provides a wonderfully festive opportunity to showcase New York State’s culinary excellence to policymakers from all across the nation. Agriculture officials from New York, representatives from major food manufacturers, and many members of the New York congressional delegation also attend the event.
