Murray got cheers from the crew when she referred to ship’s famous “U-turn.” On January 1, 2002, the Lincoln was headed home after successful missions supporting the war in Afghanistan. It was then ordered back to the Gulf to support future operations in Iraq. The commander told the crew to “get over it,” which led some crew members to make a t-shirt saying “U-Turn. Get over it.” Murray referred to the events in her remarks and drew laughter and cheers from the crew.
