A Message from Senator Enzi

Next week, I’m going on the road to bring attention to one of our country's most pressing national crises – health care. For years, I’ve been asking my fellow legislators to do something, do anything, to address the skyrocketing costs of health care coverage in the U.S. and the increasing number of Americans who are uninsured.  Congress simply cannot sit back and do nothing any longer, and that's why I'll be traveling all across the state next week - to discuss my “10 Steps to Transform Health Care in America” bill (S. 1783), which includes 10 things Congress can do right now to make health care more available and more affordable for just about everyone.

From March 17 through March 20, I will be covering more than 1,100 miles and hosting meetings in the following Wyoming cities and towns: Cheyenne, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Pinedale, Lander, Worland, Lovell, Casper, Lusk and Gillette.  To find out the details about the 10 Steps meeting closest to you, see the map below and the schedule at right.

I want to invite anyone who is concerned about the state of health care in Wyoming and the nation to come to one of my 10 Steps meetings.  I’ll be breaking down my plan step-by-step and discussing exactly what it is that Congress can do to wrangle health care costs in America.  I look forward to sharing my plan with many of you at the 10 Steps meetings next week.

With 46.1 million Americans living without health insurance, we cannot continue to allow partisan politicking to stand in the way of real reform.  We must begin a national debate to examine the whole health care system, and together we must put forward a bold and comprehensive solution that addresses our health care crisis now.   The health care crisis is particularly acute in Wyoming where, on average, one in five Wyoming residents is uninsured and more and more residents are losing what coverage they do have.  The problem is exacerbated by the fact that 70 percent of Wyoming employers are small businesses, who find it nearly impossible to afford health care coverage for their employees.
