The Senate will take up S. 372, the Intelligence Reauthorization Act, Monday afternoon. The bill would authorize appropriations for U.S. government offices and departments that deal with intelligence, including the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency.

Also Monday afternoon, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing on S. 731 and S. 962, bills relating to carbon capture and storage.

Tuesday morning, the Armed Service Committee will hold a hearing to discuss whether the Army and Marine Corps are properly sized, organized, and equipped to respond to the most likely missions over the next two decades. Witnesses include retired Army General Barry McCaffrey and President of the Center for Strategic & Budgetary Assessments Dr. Andrew Krepinevich, Jr.

Also Tuesday morning, I will meet with representatives from the Hawaii State Association of Letter Carriers to discuss postal issues.

Tuesday afternoon, I will Chair an Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness briefing on Army and Marine Corps ground forces and the FY 2008 Defense Authorization Bill.

Wednesday morning, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee meets to consider the nomination of Gregory Cade as Administrator of the U.S. Fire Administration and the Veterans' Affairs Committee meets to consider the nomination of Thomas Harvey to be Assistant Secretary (Congressional and Legislative Affairs) of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Later Wednesday morning, I will meet with Hawaii representatives from the Military Officers Association of America to discuss TRICARE benefits and other issues.

Also Wednesday morning, representatives of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply will be by my office to discuss drinking water security and water infrastructure.

Wednesday afternoon, Adjutant General Robert Lee will update me on Hawaii National Guard activities.

Also Wednesday afternoon, I will Chair a joint Armed Services Readiness and Personnel Subcommittees hearing on Department of Defense family assistance programs.

Thursday morning, the Armed Services Committee will hold a hearing on the Department of Defense's management of costs under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract in Iraq.

Also Thursday morning, I will meet with Hawaii representatives participating in the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Congressional Advocacy Day to discuss health care matters.

Friday evening, I will receive the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation 2007 Patriotism Award. Also being honored are Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and my dear friend, the late Senator Spark Matsunaga.
