Subcommittee Chairman Brian Baird stating the importance of nongovernmental organizations and universities in international science and technology cooperation
On July 15, Subcommittee Members examined the role of U.S. nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and universities in working with the federal government to foster international cooperation in science and technology. Universities and NGOs play a vital role in cultivation innovation and promoting science diplomacy.
“While I often emphasize the diplomatic benefits of international S&T cooperation, there are many compelling reasons for the U.S. public and private sectors alike to make S&T cooperation a national priority. The major challenges faced by our nation are the major challenges faced by the entire globe, and the U.S. cannot effectively pursue solutions on its own,” stated Subcommittee Chairman Brian Baird.
Previously, the Subcommittee reviewed the how federal agencies prioritize science and technology cooperation programs and the visa process for foreign science and engineering students and scholars.
