From the Office of Senator Kerry

Senator John Kerry’s Statement on Intelligence Reform

Wednesday, December 8, 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Senator John Kerry released the following statement today on the intelligence reform legislation. Senator Kerry will vote for the bill when it comes to the Senate today.

“It's long past time that Washington reform our intelligence system and end this sad chapter of delay and denial. Political stonewalling by the President and then House Republicans blocked these reforms for too long. Every day of delay has been another day of needless danger. We need a Director of National Intelligence to better protect our nation and our citizens. It's time to respond to the 9/11 Commission and the courageous voices of 9/11 families. With today's vote, the Senate can take the first step in doing what's right for our country's security.”
