SENATOR COLLINS RELEASES STATEMENT ON RESIGNATION OF FEMA DIRECTOR MICHAEL BROWN

WASHINGTON, DC—Senator Collins has released this statement following the announcement that Michael Brown has resigned his position as director of FEMA. Senator Collins chairs the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which oversees FEMA.

“The continuing barrage of questions related to Mr. Brown’s credentials for his position, his leadership ability, and decisions he made in preparation for and response to Hurricane Katrina, is a distraction to the relief and recovery efforts. I hope that Mr. Brown’s decision to step down will help put the focus squarely where it belongs, on relief and recovery efforts.”
