Services: Important Deadlines For Academy Applicants

Between Spring Semester of junior year to October 31 of senior year
(and anytime up to age 23 for high school graduates)

Submit application form to Senator Nelson's Omaha office to begin your file

You must also contact the Academies directly to begin the process with them.

As early and as often as possible

Take SAT and/or ACT and forward scores to the office of Senator Ben Nelson. Receipt of test scores may take considerable time, so take the SAT and/or ACT as early as possible.

No later than October 31 of senior year

This is the deadline to submit all required material. It should be postmarked no later than October 31. (Application, SAT and/or ACT test scores, transcripts and letters of recommendation)

*** Candidate files that are incomplete when interviews are held may not be given final consideration for a nomination.

No later than early November of senior year

Nebraskans who expect to be unable to appear for a personal interview in mid-November should contact my Omaha office at 402-391-3411.

Mid-November of senior year

Attend scheduled personal interview in Nebraska (additional test scores and additional biographical material may be hand carried to the interview)

Early December of senior year

Selection Committee evaluates all applicants

Late December of senior year

All applicants will be informed of the Senator's nomination decisions

January through June

Service Academies review nominees and make their offers of appointment

Late June/Early July

Appointees report to service academies
