A LEGACY REMEMBERED

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 and eventually made Illinois his home. Lincoln spent 30 years honing his skills here, touching many Illinois communities in his role as a lawyer and politician, before heading off to the White House as the nation’s 16th president. Fittingly, Illinois will play proud host to numerous Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial festivities in 2009.

Honor Abe’s 200th birthday with statewide special events and a tour of the Illinois places where the president made history and continues to inspire today. Use the links below to help you plan your own Lincoln celebration.
