Faculty Research Participation (Short-Term Appointments)


APPLICATION DEADLINE: (Summer 2009): The second week in January


The Program

Faculty participants in the program typically spend 10-12 weeks collaborating with an Argonne staff scientist or engineer on an existing Argonne project of interest to the faculty member. Appointments are made principally for the summer (May-August). The applicant's objectives for the Argonne appointment should be clearly specified and the applicant's department head or dean must endorse these objectives.


Eligibility

Faculty applicants must be full-time faculty members of an accredited U.S. college or university.


Financial Assistance

Financial support is available. Participants are provided with a stipend typically based upon their academic-year salary. A one time, round-trip travel reimbursement will usually be paid to faculty participants whose permanent address is more than fifty miles away from Argonne.


Application Materials

To apply for the Faculty Research Participation Program, print the application packet and guest research agreement form below. Three (3) reference forms are required; one should be completed by your department head or dean. Please read carefully and make sure all required signatures are obtained.

Using the research catalog identify on your application the research division, the research number of the research topics that interest you, and the underscore title. These should be listed in order of preference on your application.
