Real Solutions. Real Experts.

Nearly 200 speakers, experts from every field of the sustainable energy and building industries, are preparing dozens of sessions and accredited workshops for BE09, to take place March 10-12. Listings of all sessions and workshops can be viewed at the BE09 website, www.buildingenergy.nesea.org.

Last year, Governor Patrick appointed a Task Force on Net Zero Energy Buildings to offer recommendations on how to create buildings that generate as much energy as they consume. At BE09, the Governor's Task Force will present results at the Opening Plenary, March 11.

NESEA is on track to set new exhibitor records at our 34th annual conference next spring. All past exhibitors and many new to the Building Energy Conference have expressed interest in coming to Boston in March. Junior Solar Sprint

On Sunday, June 8, 2008, NESEA brought the Northeast Junior Solar Sprint Championship to the Springfield Museums Quadrangle in Springfield, MA. 109 teams were registered to compete for awards at this invitation only event.

We were fortunate to have almost all races run on the sun, and we had an exciting variety of solar car creations made by middle school teams from all across the Northeast. Please check our winners' list and gallery.

Upcoming Fall JSS Teacher training Workshops. Involve your students in a highly successful hands-on science and engineering project. Attend a free training workshop and gain experience in leading your students or community group through a fancinating investigative project on applications in solar energy.

Clean Green Activities for Youth, Community Mentors & Teachers

Families, Educators, and Youth Group Leaders:

Take your kids on an adventure to a nearby home or business using renewable energy. Empower them to do something about global climate change and other consequences of burning fossil fuels. Together explore clean energy options, and take action with a project of choice. Kids can earn certificates and patches or pins for their work.

The Clean Green Power Project is suitable for ages 5 and up, and the Wind Wisdom program for ages 10 or 11 and up. Patches are FREE for Massachusetts residents and $5.00 for others. Girl Scouts completing either or both of these programs earn the special Girl Scout patches.

Enter through the Clean Energy for a Clean Environment web page, and you will find a wealth of great resources for anyone, including the program guides, energy glossaries, educational activities, project ideas, MA sites to visit, and numerous other interesting web links. Start right now with A Quick Introduction to Clean Green Energy, the Easy Energy Survey, the True-False Quiz, or even a hopeful short story for the youngest kids, A Breath of Fresh Air.
