WALSH NAMES SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINEES FOR CLASS OF 2011

(Syracuse, New York)- Congressman James Walsh has named nominees to the U.S. Service Academies at West Point (Army), Annapolis (Navy), Colorado Springs (Air Force), and Kings Point (Merchant Marine).

"Serving in the United States military is among the noblest calls to public service," said Congressman Walsh.  "I applaud this impressive list of young men and woman who are committed to serving our nation in receiving training and education at a U.S. Service Academy.  They are among New York's finest.  At the same time, I would like to thank the advisory committees whose decisions were difficult but always consistent."

USMA
Walsh's principal nominee to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is Ethan Gilbert (Fayetteville-Manlius H.S.).

Additional nominees are: Matthew Wainwright (Christian Brothers Academy), John Manzano (Westhill H.S.), Carl Kanerva (Webster-Thomas H.S.), Jeremy Boltus (CW Baker H.S.), Timothy Henderson (Tully H.S.), Michael Becker (Tully H.S.), and Markus Spicer (Corcoran H.S.).

USNA
Walsh's principal nominee to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland is Kris Estabrook (Christian Brothers Academy).

Additional nominees are: Daniel Fitzpatrick (Christian Brothers Academy), Greg Nolan (Marcellus H.S.), Alex Angelillo (Skaneateles H.S), Peter Craner (Solvay H.S. '05 / The Gunnery, Washington, CT), Anthony Fazio (Webster Thomas H.S '06 / Greystone Prep School at Schreiner University), Adam Flowers (North Rose-Wolcott H.S.), Blake Frey (McQuaid Jesuit H.S.), Jonathan Schneckenburger (Fayetteville-Manlius H.S. The principal nominees to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado are Ryan Galletto (Webster-Schroeder H.S. '06 / Valley Forge Military Academy), Andrew Costa (Fayetteville Manlius H.S), and Cody Main (Newark H.S.).

An additional nominee is Nathaniel Metcalf (Clyde-Savannah Jr. - Sr. H.S.).

The nominees for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point are George Kingma (Jamesville-DeWitt H.S.) and Daniel Fitzpatrick (Christian Brothers Academy).
