FUEL CELLS IN THE DISTRICT |

|
- LEED-Certified
Mark Twain House and Museum: Hartford's
beloved local history museum generates some of its electricity with a
stationary fuel cell. It is the first museum in the nation, and the first
building in Connecticut,
to attain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification.
LEED Certification distinguishes building projects that have demonstrated a
commitment to clean energy and that emphasize new strategies for energy
efficiency.
- Hartford Fuel
Cell Bus: In April 2007, the city of Hartford
unveiled its first fuel cell bus, the only bus of its kind to operate east of Texas. The bus runs
completely on fuel cells designed by UTC and uses a hydrogen refueling station
located at UTC Power's headquarters in South Windsor.
The bus is owned by CTTRANSIT, Connecticut's
state-owned bus system, and runs on the Hartford Star Shuttle route.
