Will the rampant destruction of tropical forests and climate change kill off much of Earth’s biological diversity?

In recent decades some biologists have claimed that up to half of all species on earth might disappear during our lifetimes. But other scientists are now disputing this view, arguing that many species can persist in logged or altered lands and that rainforest destruction is slowing.

Who is right?

The stakes are high. The battle lines have been drawn. Some of the world’s top scientists are lining up to debate the tropical extinction crisis.

Don’t miss the controversy—and a chance to learn more about the fate of tropical species.
