Washington, Mar 10, 2008 -

The office of U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland, and Freedom Village will host an event in Holland to assist area veterans in securing military service medals and commendations that were lost, never received or erroneously never issued.

The event is scheduled for 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 10 in the atrium at Freedom Village, 145 Columbia Ave. Service will be provided by representatives from Hoekstra’s office.

All interested veterans and their families are invited to attend. Those planning to attend should bring with them a copy of their separation document to facilitate the process. Assisting will be Cadet First Class Ryan Hulst of Zeeland. He attends West Point and is home for the week on a Cadet Public Relations Council Tour.

Hulst will also be available on Monday, March 10 from 3 to 4 p.m. in Hoekstra’s Holland District Office to answer any questions that students and parents may have about military academies, West Point in particular.

No appointments are necessary. For additional information, contact Constituent Projects Manager Paula Van Dyke in Hoekstra’s Holland District Office at (616) 395-0030 or Teresa Bravata at Freedom Village at (616) 820-7474.
