INSTRUCTIONS for APPLICATION FOR CONGRESSIONAL NOMINATION

SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS DEADLINE

Those applying for Congressional Nomination for the Class of 2013 must submit the APPLICATION FOR CONGRESSIONAL NOMINATION form and the other required documents (see checklist) by Monday October 20, 2008 to:

OFFICE of CONGRESSMAN DAN LUNGREN
2339 GOLD MEADOW WAY, SUITE 220
GOLD RIVER, CA 95670
All documents must be received as a complete application package. Letters of recommendation and transcripts must be in sealed envelopes inside the larger application. The only part of the application which may be mailed seperately is SAT and ACT test scores.

CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS with NOMINATION COMMITTEE

In November, eligible applicants whose files are completed by the deadline date will be notified of the date of their interviews with Congressman Lungren's Academy Nomination Committee. Interviews will take place in early December.

NOMINATIONS AND APPOINTMENTS

Nominations will be determined using the competitive method, with all nominees submitted unranked to the Academies, allowing equal opportunity for each candidate.

If nominated, you will be notified by February 1, 2009.  Academies will then contact nominees, evaluate each, and then extend final offers of appointment.

If you are offered an appointment to a Military Service Academy, you will be notified by May 1, 2009.

There are usually more applicants than available seats to the Academies. If you are not selected for nomination or appointment, you are encouraged to re-apply the following year. Re-applicants are often selected after an additional year of preparation.  You may also consider enlisted service, from which you may apply to an Academy.

REMINDER

YOU MUST COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROCESS WITH EACH ACADEMY YOU ARE CONSIDERING ATTENDING.
