U. S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) will attend events in Mississippi next week from Monday, January 7, until Friday, January 11.

On Monday, January 7, at 2:15 p.m. (Central), Senator Cochran will welcome Tom Scully, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, to the Jackson Medical Mall Thad Cochran Center and accompany him and other officials on a brief tour of the facility. There will be a press conference tentatively scheduled for 2:20 p.m. (Central) with the Senator and Administrator Scully just outside the Mall auditorium. Senator Cochran will then proceed into the auditorium to introduce Mr. Scully to a group of approximately 150 hospital administrators who have come from all over the state to attend this special meeting sponsored by the Mississippi Hospital Association.

Senator Cochran will be the featured speaker at the joint Kiwanis/Lions Club meeting on Wednesday, January 9, at 12:00 noon (Central) at the Western Sizzlin, 912 Brookway Boulevard, in Brookhaven.

On Thursday, January 10, at 6:30 p.m. (Central), Senator Cochran will give the opening remarks at the "Between the Lions" live show featuring the stars of the Emmy Award-winning PBS Kid's series. The Senator will introduce the show's female trio, the Vowelles, a regular feature on the television show singing a variety of music styles all with original vowel-oriented-lyrics. The concert will take place on the Choctaw reservation at the Silver Star Resort and Casino in Philadelphia.

Senator Cochran will participate in a press conference on Friday, January 11, with Mississippi Secretary of State Eric Clark and others to discuss plans to help Mississippi purchase Deer Island for permanent preservation. The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. (Central) in Biloxi – location to be announced.

Also on Friday, January 11, Senator Cochran will be the keynote speaker at the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet at 7:00 p.m. (Central). The event will be held at the Casino Magic Entertainment Complex in Bay St. Louis.
