TO: Printing and Publishing Officials of the Federal Government

SUBJECT: Projected Increases in Printing and Binding Costs in Fiscal Years 1999 and 2000

To assist you in establishing your estimated printing and binding requirements for Fiscal Years 1999 and 2000, the Government Printing Office is furnishing you the following estimates of projected cost trends for these requirements.

Based on our latest projections, we estimate that the cost of printing will increase 4.8 percent in Fiscal Year 1999 over Fiscal Year 1998. For Fiscal Year 2000, we expect prices to increase 3.1 percent over Fiscal Year 1999.

We do not encourage the use of these percentages in estimating or pricing individual jobs. They are being provided to assist you in formulating your general budgetary requirements. If you need additional information, please contact Mr. William Guy, Director, Office of Budget, on
