7/20/07: Dodd, Lieberman Hail Senate Passage of Transportation, Housing, Energy and Water Appropriations Bills

Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT) successfully secured more than $30 million for critical transportation, urban development, and environmental needs in Connecticut. The funding, which was included in the Senate's Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Energy and Water bills, was approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee last week.  The Senators also secured funding for the Women’s Business Development Center in Stamford, CT as part of the Financial Services appropriations bill.


7/11/07: Dodd, Lieberman Hail Subcommittee Passage of Appropriations Bill to Secure Millions for Connecticut Programs

Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) applauded legislation approved on June 28 by the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies that will provide funding for afterschool and gang prevention programs for Connecticut youth, equipment upgrades for Connecticut’s public safety systems, and research initiatives at the Institute of Exploration in Mystic, CT, among other things.  Dodd and Lieberman worked to secure funding for Connecticut projects in the bill that will provide more than $4.5 million in new federal funds for initiatives statewide.


7/02/07: Dodd, Lieberman Secure Funds for Connecticut Interior, Labor, Health and Human Services Initiatives

The Senate Appropriations Committee last week approved legislation that would provide funds for environmental preservation and conservation efforts across Connecticut, Senators Chris Dodd and Joe Lieberman announced today. Dodd and Lieberman secured funding for a number of Connecticut projects in the appropriations bill that covers the Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other independent federal agencies.


6/27/07: Dodd, Lieberman Announce Funds for Protection of Connecticut Marine Life

Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) announced today that the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection will receive a grant for $219,563 from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration.  The grant money will be used to compile reports on quota monitoring, stock assessment, development, evaluation of fishery management plans (FMPs) and management measures, and to provide this information to marine staff.  The grant also provides funds for enforcement of Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission management plans.


6/20/07: Senate Panel Approves $25 Million in Military Construction Funding for Connecticut Facilities

The Senate Appropriations Committee recently approved legislation that will provide $25.5 million to upgrade and modernize Connecticut military facilities, Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (D-CT) announced today. The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2008, which will now head to the Senate floor for consideration, allocates $64.7 billion for U.S. veterans and for building and maintenance of Department of Defense facilities.

5/22/07: Statement of Senator Dodd on Connecticut Ryan White Care Act Funding

Senator Dodd today blasted the Bush Administration for cutting HIV/AIDS funding for Hartford and New Haven under the Ryan White CARE Act Part A supplemental program.  The City of Hartford’s grant award was cut from $2,024,791 to $913,750 and the City of New Haven’s grant award was cut from $2,710,386 to $1,501,862.  Senator Dodd issued the following statement in response:


5/16/07: Dodd, Lieberman Laud Senate Passage of the Water Resources Development Act

Bill authorizes $ 45 Million for Connecticut Projects

Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) secured $ 45 million in authorized spending for Connecticut water resource projects in a bill that passed the Senate today.  The bill, the Water Resources Development Act of 2007, gives the Army Corps of Engineers authority to undertake essential water resource studies and to construct and modify water resource projects.


5/01/07: CT Delegation Urges Bush Administration to Provide Federal Relief for Damage Caused by Devastating Nor’easter

Connecticut’s Congressional delegation urged the Bush Administration to provide federal relief funds to help repair damage caused by the devastating nor’easter that hit the region last month.  In a letter to President Bush and Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) Director Arthur Cleaves, the delegation calls on the administration to grant the state’s request for federal assistance.


3/28/07: Senator Dodd Calls for Funding to Preserve and Protect Wild, Scenic Rivers

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) sent a letter today to Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Larry Craig (R-ID), the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, to recommend that the Subcommittee include $2.146 million in the Fiscal Year 2008 Interior Appropriations bill to support Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Florida.
