Impact Aid

The impact aid funding encompasses a variety of mechanisms for school improvement including construction, facilities maintenance and basic support payments. I support this program as a critical means of support for Idaho’s federally impacted schools
Working closely with state and local governments, the Impact Aid program is able to serve approximately 1.6 million federally-connected students. In Idaho, Impact Aid provides assistance to thirty-five districts and, last year, allocated over $5.3 million through the program.
I recognize the importance of Impact Aid funding for Idaho. I recently sent a letter to my Senate colleagues on the Appropriations Committee requesting increased funding for the Impact Aid program. Click here (PDF file) to read a copy of the letter, which was signed by nearly forty U.S. Senators.
As a member of the Senate Impact Aid Coalition, I will continue to vote to increase funding for federally impacted schools.
