July 18, 2007

“I applaud the House’s passage of the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007. This bipartisan legislation enables firefighters, police, and other public safety officers to collectively bargain for fair wages and benefits—a basic right they’ve been denied in some 20 states. Those who stand on the front lines against terrorism, fire, natural disasters, and crime deserve strong unions, safe working conditions, and a decent wage. This bill helps them get just that. I look forward to supporting it in the Senate, and I’ll do everything I can to help it become law.”

9/21/06: Statement of Senator Dodd on Capitol Security Breach

September 21, 2006

“An internal examination of this breach is currently underway and I don’t want to prejudge its conclusions before a thorough and thoughtful examination.  But I agree with the Capitol Police’s own assessment that there was an unacceptable response to this security breach.  It has been five years now since the tragic attacks of 9/11 and for this to occur just days after marking that horrible anniversary clearly shows that more needs to be done in terms of improved security.
