Senator Levin's regional office in Escanaba serves all of the communities of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The office is located on Ludington Street in Escanaba, just off the shores of Little Bay de Noc, and provides assistance to individual constituents and communities on issues related to any agency of the federal government, including Social Security, Medicare and education. The office assists the region's urban centers and rural areas in facing their unique challenges.

The Upper Peninsula is home to several state universities and community colleges, mining and logging operations, pulp and paper industries, farming communities, major and rural health care systems, manufacturing, high tech industries, the deactivated KI Sawyer and Kincheloe Air Force bases, and major year-round tourism.

Senator Levin has worked hard to keep industry in this area of Michigan. He has pushed for fair trade laws to protect the U.S. iron ore industry from surges of imported steel and semi-finished steel slab brought into the country below market prices, and he has supported high tech research and development with U.P. businesses and universities, some in partnership with the National Automotive Center and the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM). He has supported the ongoing economic development of Sawyer and Kincheloe/Kinross, helping to create thriving communities following the closure of the two Air Force bases. Senator Levin has also fought for funding to replace crumbling infrastructure such as sewer and water systems, and he has worked to secure disaster assistance for communities that sustained monumental damages from flooding and drought.
