Fortenberry Applauds Passage of Wounded Warriors Legislation

Washington D.C. - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today voted to ensure Americas wounded military personnel and their families are provided better access in the military healthcare system. The legislation would remove bureaucratic hurdles to quality care and improve the handling of casework by medical professionals. The Wounded Warriors Assistance Act would streamline administrative procedures, reduce the patient manager to patient ratio, establish standardized training for medical professionals and case managers, and create a toll free hotline to report deficiencies.

All brave men and women of the United States military, particularly those injured while serving our country, deserve the best possible medical care, Fortenberry said.

Incidentally, the legislation shares the name of an organization in Omaha called Wounded Warriors (www.woundedwarriors.org). The non-profit organizations mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. H.R. 1538, the Wounded Warriors Assistance Act was passed unanimously by the House of Representatives.
