Fortenberry Announces Funding Approval for Nebraska Highway 35
House Committee Bill Includes $1 Million for Transportation Project

Washington D.C. - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry announced that $1 million in funding for Nebraska Highway 35 was included in the House Transportation-Treasury-Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill which has passed the full Appropriations Committee. This is the second step in a lengthy budget process. Fortenberry requested funding for this project earlier this year and has issued the following statement:

This project has significant regional and national importance, Fortenberry said. Its completion would provide substantial safety and economic development benefits in northeast Nebraska.

Highway 35 improvements will help develop the most efficient route from Norfolk to South Sioux City. Currently the route is comprised of several short segments of two-lane highway.

The House appropriations process includes three levels of approvalsubcommittee, full committee, and Floor.
