Fortenberry Calls for Tighter National SecuritySale of American Ports to Highest Bidder Poses a Potential Threat

LINCOLN, NE - U.S. Representative Jeff Fortenberry issued the following statement on the sale of American Ports Control to Dubai Ports World:

"We should not be outsourcing control of American ports to the highest bidder", Fortenberry said. "In this case, a business deal appears to have taken priority over the security interests of the American people.

We cannot afford to compromise our national security. I have written letters to Treasury Secretary John Snow and to House Select Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Peter King to immediately review this transaction and to ask the Administration to reconsider its approval of the sale."
