Fortenberry Addresses Economic Growth with Treasury Secretary Snow and Senator Nelson

OMAHA, NE - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry joined U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow and Senator Ben Nelson today at a roundtable session in Omaha addressing issues related to the nations continued economic growth.

It was a privilege to sit down with Secretary Snow, Senator Nelson, and a number of community leaders to discuss the continued robust growth of Americas economy, Fortenberry said. Its important for policy makers to listen to the hard-working Americans who keep our economy strong.

The economic roundtable was held at the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and was attended by approximately 25 business and community leaders. In addition to discussing economic growth, Secretary Snow also fielded questions about President Bushs proposal to reform Social Security.

Congressman Fortenberry has previously commended Bushs leadership for addressing the long term shortfall faced by Social Security. We need to protect Social Security for those who are in the system, and strengthen it for the younger generation to come, Fortenberry has said.

Rep. Fortenberry, Secretary Snow, and Senator Nelson also joined one another in condemning Thursdays terror attacks in London.

Britain has shown great resolve as a staunch ally in our fight against terror, and America will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with them in their hour of need, Fortenberry said.
