Fortenberry: Petraeus Briefing "Critical"

Washington D.C. - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry released the following statement on todays briefing with General David Petraeus with members of Congress.

The timing of this briefing was particularly important in light of the upcoming vote on war supplemental budgeting legislation in the U.S. House. Hearing directly from top military commanders in a time of war is among the highest priorities for leaders and policymakers. This type of honest assessment is critical. Support for our troops is critical. We must provide thoughtful and vigorous bipartisan Congressional oversight and establish meaningful measures of progress toward the stabilization of Iraq."
