Farm Bill Moves Forward

Washington, DC - The House Agriculture Committee announced yesterday that the 2007 Farm Bill is moving ahead through the House committee process. Committee consideration will begin on Tuesday. Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, a member of the House Agriculture Committee, released the following statement:

“I am pleased to play a role in the crafting of this important legislation,” Fortenberry said. “Federal farm policy should promote a safe and secure food supply that preserves and renews rural America. Agricultural entrepreneurship, ag-based energy production, and creative conservation will shape agriculture and future farm policy.

“My desire is that the final 2007 Farm Bill will include important provisions such as reauthorization of successful renewable energy programs, incentives for ag-based energy, and efforts to enhance conservation and entrepreneurial opportunities."
