Fortenberry Supports NPPD’s Forward Thinking Energy Portfolio

Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today applauded the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) for its commitment to diversifying its energy portfolio.  NPPD announced its long-term goal of expanding its wind capacity by more than 400 megawatts and generating ten percent of its electricity from renewable energy resources by 2020.

“I commend NPPD for its forward thinking, further integrating renewable resources into its energy portfolio.  Since Nebraska ranks second for ethanol production, sixth for wind energy potential, ninth for solar energy potential in the United States, it makes sense to harness these sustainable resources.”

“Nebraska can lead America’s renewable energy future,” said Fortenberry.  “The time is now to move aggressively to build capacity for sustainable energy.”
