Fortenberry Recognized For Leadership On Nuclear Security

Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry was honored by the Center for National Policy (CNP) for his leadership on nuclear security issues at the Annual Edmund S. Muskie Distinguished Public Service Awards.  Fortenberry co-chairs CNP’s Nuclear Security Study Group and is a co-founder of the House Nuclear Security Caucus.

“The rapid advancement of nuclear weapons technology around the world demands heightened Congressional oversight,” Fortenberry said.  “I commend the Center for National Policy and its leadership for their work in this critical area.”

Fortenberry was honored with Representative Adam Schiff, the other co-chair of the Nuclear Security Study Group along with General Brent Scowcroft and Senator Joe Biden.

Former 9/11 Commissioner and CNP President Tim Roemer said “issues like nuclear security affect all Americans, and the work that Congressman Fortenberry and Congressman Schiff are doing on the Nuclear Security Caucus is truly a model of how Congress should approach national security issues—in a thoughtful, comprehensive and bipartisan way.”
