Fortenberry Presents United States House of Representatives Resolution at Standing Bear Breakfast

Lincoln, NE - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today celebrated the life and legacy of Chief Standing Bear at the 3rd Annual Chief Standing Bear Breakfast.  He presented a copy of the recently passed U.S. House of Representatives resolution honoring Chief Standing Bear to members of the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs and the Ponca Tribe.

“Chief Standing Bear’s courage and determination have earned him a respected place in American history,” said Fortenberry.  “His example continues to inspire those engaged in the advancement of civil rights, of human rights.  I appreciate the work that the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs and Chief Standing Bear Planning Committee do each year to honor this great leader.”
