Fortenberry Participates in World Economic Conference in the Middle East

Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry is in Egypt today meeting with Middle Eastern leaders and officials around the world.  Fortenberry joins a select bipartisan panel of five Congress members participating in the World Economic Forum.

“This forum is an extraordinary opportunity for honest, meaningful discourse about key challenges to international security, including peace and stability in the Middle East, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, nuclear weapons proliferation, energy sustainability, and difficult economic conditions,” Fortenberry said.

As part of the forum, Fortenberry has met with President Mubarak of Egypt and President Karzai of Afghanistan, as well as Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad and King Abdullah of Jordan, among other foreign officials.  President Bush also addressed the forum Sunday.

Fortenberry is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Democracy Assistance Commission.
