Fortenberry Comments on Energy Legislation

Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry released the following statement on H.R. 6, the Renewable Fuels, Consumer Protection, and Energy Efficiency Act of 2007:

“This was a difficult vote. I support many elements of this bill including increased CAFE standards, the renewable fuel standard, and the renewable electricity standard. However, significant tax changes could potentially further our dependence on foreign oil and drive up energy prices. We can do better. I am optimistic that next week we will have an opportunity to vote for an improved bill.”
