Levin: DoD Base Closure Recommendations Are Good News for Michigan Overall

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., said the following today:

"The news for Michigan is great overall. The Secretary of Defense’s recommendations will result in a net increase of jobs for Michigan. Our facilities with the largest numbers of employees - Detroit Arsenal, Selfridge, the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center - come out strong or stronger. The communities involved have joined us in the 'tooth and nail' fight we have waged for these facilities, and they have proven their tremendous value to the nation. It is a real tribute to the military and civilian men and women at our Michigan military installations whose dedication and extraordinary professionalism make such important contributions to our nation’s security."
