Retail Unbundling - Washington

Status: The state has no unbundled service programs for residential customers.

Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission or the state legislature. Unbundled service is available to large-volume commercial and industrial customers, which include hospitals and large schools.

EIA State Data: In 2002, Washington had 861,943 residential and 85,286 commercial customers. They consumed 73 and 46 billion cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural gas purchased from local distribution companies by residential and commercial customers were $9.33 and $8.24 per thousand cubic feet, respectively.
