Retail Unbundling - Hawaii


Status: The state has no unbundled service programs for residential customers.


Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission or the state legislature. In 2002, natural gas deliveries to residential customers in Hawaii represented only 0.01 percent of the national total.


EIA State Data: In 2002, Hawaii had 30,731 residential and 2,781 commercial customers. They consumed 0.5 and 2 billion cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural gas purchased from local distribution companies by residential and commercial customers were $23.10 and $17.81 per thousand cubic feet, respectively.
